On January 9, 2024, in Kolkata, the 25th edition of the CABLE TV SHOW 2024 commenced, marking a significant milestone as one of the largest trade shows focusing on digital cable television, broadband, and OTT in India and the Saarc region. The formal inauguration took place at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan (Milan Mela), Kolkata, coinciding with the silver jubilee celebration of this three-day Mega Exhibition from January 9 to 11, 2024.
The Indian broadcast and cable TV market, valued at USD 13.61 billion in 2023, is anticipated to witness a 7.85 percent annual growth rate until 2029.
Mr. Pawan Jajodia, Chairman Exhibition, CTMA, expressed that the Cable TV Show 2024 would be the most significant in its history in Kolkata, having completed 25 successful years since its inception in 1997 at the Ice Skating ring. The B2B mega show, expected to attract over 50,000 attendees from across the country and Bangladesh, features 92 stalls, 85 pavilions, and over eighty participants at the expansive Milon Mela Prangan in Kolkata.
Organized by the Kolkata-based Cable TV Equipments Traders & Manufacturers Association (CTMA), the three-day B2B mega event is open to the public and draws major multi-system operators (MSOs) and brands associated with the cable television sector in the country. It serves as a platform to showcase the latest technologies, products, solutions, and services.
Mr. K K Binani, Secretary, CTMA, highlighted CTMA’s role as the voice of the cable television sector in the eastern region for the past 30 years. As the government works towards finalizing the draft Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill, 2023, to replace the three-decade-old Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act of 1995, CTMA aims to continue advocating for the cable television network in India.
More than 10,000 cable operators, MSOs, representatives, traders, manufacturers, channel partners, distributors, broadcasters, and Multi-System Operators (MSOs) from across India and overseas are expected to attend the CABLE TV SHOW 2024.
Mr. Rajesh Doshi, President, CTMA, noted that the Cable TV Show has consistently showcased the latest technological developments and changes in the cable television sector over the years, becoming the largest show of its kind in the Saarc region.
Despite challenges from competing technologies, the CATV sector continues to grow, covering new rural areas and providing internet services, entertainment, and educational content. CATV networks have overcome infrastructural challenges to expand into untapped rural areas, establishing themselves as crucial service providers in India, according to Mr. Rajendra Prasad Agarwal, Vice President, CTMA.
Presented by gold sponsors Alliance Broadband and Meghbala Broadband, silver sponsors MRMPL, SG Beldon, SyRotech, and WishNet, and bronze sponsors CtrlS, Digisol, Extreme, Seanet, and Star, the 25th CATV SHOW 2024 receives support from SITI Networks and GTPLKCBPL.
