St. Joan’s Primary School, a beacon of education in Salt Lake, Kolkata, hosted its Annual Sports Day on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the picturesque GD Park. The festivities commenced with the captivating performance “Swagatham Krishna,” presented by the talented students of Classes IV & V. The enchanting display set the stage for a day filled with excitement, camaraderie, and cultural diversity.
Mrs. Debjani Ghosh, the school’s Principal, expressed her excitement, emphasizing that the Annual Sports Day is more than a mere display of athletic competitions. “It is a celebration of our commitment to nurturing holistic development in our students. The Chief Guest for the occasion was His Excellency Hon’ble Mr. Zha Liyou, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata. His presence underscored the school’s dedication to embracing global cultures and languages. Hon’ble Mr. Ranjan Poddar (Borough Chairman Br-V) and Hon’ble Mrs. Tulsi Sinha Roy (MMIC, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation) graced the event as Guests of Honour, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the school and local government.
Distinguished personalities, including Grand Master Pradipta Kumar Roy, Taekwondo Champion & Coach, Mr. P.A. John Stephen, Acting Principal of La Martiniere for Boys, Kolkata, and Mr. Neville McNamara, Ex-Principal of St. Joseph’s School, Bowbazar, added prestige to the occasion.
