A New Era for Bengal Cricket
Kolkata, 11th June, 2024: Bengal’s cricketing landscape is set for a transformative chapter with the debut of the Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers in the Bengal Pro T20 League. Proudly co-owned by Shyam Steel Group and Lux Cozi, the Kolkata Tigers represent the districts of Kolkata and Hooghly, uniting Bengal’s cricketing talent under one banner.
The Teams and Leadership
The Kolkata Tigers, a franchise in the Bengal Pro T20 League initiated by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), are geared up to showcase Bengal’s cricketing strength. The league features both men and women cricketers. Abishek Porel, the wicket-keeper batsman, will captain the men’s team, while Mita Paul, the right-handed off-break bowler, leads the women’s team.
Coaching Excellence
Shib Sankar Paul, the Head Coach, along with Assistant Coach Kanchan Maity, will mentor the men’s team. The women’s team benefits from the expertise of Head Coach Charanjit Singh Nair and Assistant Coach Trisha Bera. These experienced coaches will enhance the teams’ skills, preparing them to face any on-field challenges.
Exciting Season Ahead
The Bengal Pro T20 League anticipates an energetic and exciting season. Both teams, comprising 18 men and 16 women, will play 31 matches at the prestigious Eden Gardens and BCCI certified Jadavpur University Salt Lake campus grounds. The games will be broadcast on popular sports channels and digital platforms like Sports 18, Jio Cinema, Fancode, and Air Bangla.
