Director Arna Mukhopadhyay’s movie Atthoi recently released on 14th June 2024 in theatres. The film is an Bengali Action/Drama , which is an adaption of William Shakespeare’s Othello.
The film is starring Anirban Bhattacharya,Arna Mukhopadhyay, Sohini Sarkar & Ditipriya Roy.
The film is divided into several parts, akin to theatrical acts. Director Arna Mukhopadhyay played the role of Atthoi, and fans say that his character was overpowered by Anirban’s screen timing.
Sohini Sarkar’s role is mostly confined to tears and silence but yet an impactful role.On the other hand Ditipriya Roy again proves her great acting skills.
However, the movie tends to lose it’s plot from time to time. The story later on goes from jealousy and revenge to more like a play, involving many reasons only for a dramatic closure.
Fans and critics praised the film’s cinematography by Soumik Halder.However the movie had it’s charms and flaws at the same time which was very much noticeable by the audience.
The film had a talented cast with their brilliant acting and a good story.
Fans say that “there was too much of Anirban in the movie, and it got boring after a point.”.
However, the movie couldn’t meet it’s expectations and fulfill it’s potential up to the mark.
