In the world of entertainment, short films hold a special place. These concise cinematic pieces often deliver powerful narratives and convey social messages that can serve as profound lessons for all, sometimes more effectively than feature films.
Anshuman Chatterjee, an expatriate Indian Bengali filmmaker and cinematographer living in Luxembourg, took on a unique project while pursuing a certificate course in film at the New York Film Academy. He participated in a challenging project where he was tasked with creating a short film within 48 hours. Despite not receiving support from local creative professionals, Chatterjee persevered and completed his short film ” Revolution” within the deadline.
Time, an unstoppable force, welcomes each new moment, symbolizing a continuous revolution in our lives. We, as individuals, remain at the center of this revolution, with all our present feelings transforming into the past as time moves forward. In A Revolution, Chatterjee masterfully crafts a magical world using his camera and lighting skills, immersing viewers in a contemplative journey. His wife, Diane Chatterjee, stars in the film, bringing the narrative to life with her performance.
Although the concept of Revolution was misunderstood by many, it garnered praise from several film critics for its artistic depth. Upon its release on YouTube, the short film received appreciation from the judges at the New York Film Academy. Esteemed Kolkata-based director Anshuman Chakraborty also commended Chatterjee’s work after watching the film.
Following this success, Chatterjee produced a full-length web film titled Ador – A House of Love, based on his original story and directed by Anshuman Chakraborty. The film is set to release soon on the popular OTT platform Amazon Prime. Currently, many professionals from both Luxembourg and India are eager to collaborate with Anshuman Chatterjee on future projects.
