The production features Rabindranath Tagore’s timeless words, brought to life through Arindom’s soulful singing and thoughtful music design. The Heart of the Story
The narrative centers on Uma, portrayed by Sreeja Dutta, a young woman trapped in a marriage with the older Girish, played by Avrajit Chakraborty. Although she lives in the opulence of a Zamindar household, Uma endures the torment of her violent husband. The plot thickens with the return of Dhiren, Girish’s younger brother and Uma’s childhood friend, after years abroad.
A Reunion Turns Tragic
Dhiren’s initial failure to recognize Uma shifts when a cherished memento rekindles their past friendship. However, their reunion quickly descends into chaos as jealousy and rumors circulate. Uma’s envious sister-in-law spreads false accusations of an affair, inciting Girish’s violent rage and leading to Dhiren’s imprisonment, further exacerbating Uma’s suffering.
