Dumdum Marga Sangeet Utsav Committee Hosts A Star Studded 4th Edition Of Dumdum Marga Sangeet Utsav

Dumdum Marga Sangeet Utsav Committee, today, inaugurated the 4th edition of the two-day Dumdum Marga Sangeet Utsav, a classical music festival at Dumdum Rabindra Bhavan Surer Math. The festival was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister In Charge, Department of Education Govt Of West Bengal, Shri Bratya Basu, Honourable Speaker, Shri Biman Banerjee, Hon’b’le Member Of Parliament, Prof Sougato Roy and Music Maestro, Shri Hariharan.

 

Dumdum Marga Sangeet Utsav is conceptualised by Shri Bratya Basu. The first day of the event witnessed performances by Ustad Rashid Khan and Armaan Khan on Vocals accompanied by Shri Yashwant Vaishnav on Tabla with Shri Vijay Mishra on Harmonium and Janab Murad Ali on Sarangi, Pandit Rahul Sharma on Santoor accompanied by Shri Ojas Adhiya in Tabla, Vidushi Kaushiki Chakraborty on Vocals accompanied by Shri Ojas Adhiya on Tabla with Janab Murad Ali on Sarengi and Shri Tanmoy Deochake on Harmonium, Pandit Bikram Ghosh on Tabla and Ustad Taufiq Qureshi on DJEMBE & Percussions with Vidwan Suresh Vaidyanathan on Ghatam and Shri Abhishek Mullik on Sitar. A Jugalbandi featuring Pandit Bikram Ghosh & Ustad Taufiq Qureshi, for the first time together, was the major attraction of the day.

 

“The Dumdum Marga Sangeet Utsav has always promised to be a grand celebration for the music aficionados over the years. We have lined up a host of musical geniuses to perform over two days. This year also we are witnessing an overwhelming response from the people across the city”, said Sukanto (Raju) Sen Sharma, Convener, Dumdum Marga Sangeet Utsav.

 

The second day will feature performances by Pandit Tarun Bhattacharjee on Santoor and Pandit Ronu Majumdar on Flute and accompanied by Shri Jyotirmay Roy Chowdhury on Tabla, Pandit Sandipan Samajpati on Vocals supported by Pandit Parimal Chakraborty on Tabla and Shri Hiranmoy Mitra on Harmonium, Ustad Shahid Parvez io Sitar and Shri Subhojyoti Guha on Tabla. The main attraction of this day will be a performance by Hariharan along with Pandit Bikram Ghosh

The 2nd day of Dumdum Marga Sangeet Festival ended with spectacular renditions by Pandit Tarun Bhattacharjee on Santoor and Pandit Ronu Majumdar on Flute and accompanied by Shri Jyotirmay Roy Chowdhury on Tabla, Pandit Sandipan Samajpati on Vocals supported by Pandit Parimal Chakraborty on Tabla and Shri Hiranmoy Mitra on Harmonium, Ustad Shahid Parvez on Sitar and Shri Subhojyoti Guha on Tabla. The main attraction of this day was the performance by Hariharan along with Pandit Bikram Ghosh.

“We are extremely delighted by the eclectic performances by the acclaimed maestros. The participation of the audience is also very encouraging. Our goal is to popularise and maintain the practise of India Classical music. We hope, we will be able to organise this concert at such a grand scale in the coming years too”, said Mr Sukanto (Raju) Sen Sharma, Convener, Dumdum Marga Sangeet Utsav.

 

The festival saw the participation of people from all walks of life particularly youngsters which was an encouraging sign of their inclination towards the preservation of Indian classical music.
