The Heart of Kolkata
Amidst the vibrant lanes of Kolkata near the Kali temple, where dreams and destinies unfold, lives Pujarini. She runs a modest ‘dala shop,’ offering flowers, garlands, and ‘puja dalas’ to temple-goers. Living with her impoverished parents and younger siblings, Pujarini dreams of expanding her business and uplifting the lives of fellow shop-owners by introducing new technologies and know-how. However, she often finds herself entangled with the local moneylender, a challenge she faces with courage.
The Unsung Hero
Maharaj, in contrast, is a brilliant student from a well-to-do family, an accomplished chess player, and a respected tutor who teaches for free. Despite his achievements, he leads a mindless existence, often drenched in alcohol. The apple of his father’s eye, Maharaj possesses a heart of gold, which goes unnoticed by many, including his own mother and elder brother. He is aimless and indifferent to material aspirations, often misunderstood, especially by Pujarini.
An Unexpected Union
Destiny brings these two opposites together. Can Pujarini truly understand Maharaj? Can she bring light into his life? Will love blossom between them? Their journey is one of highs and lows, as they strive to soar beyond the constraints of their circumstances.
Meet the Cast
“Uraan,” produced by Surinder Films, features seasoned actor Pratik Sen as Maharaj and newcomer Ratnapriya Das as Pujarini. The cast also includes veteran Anjana Basu as Maharaj’s mother, Sandip Bhattacharya as Maharaj’s father, and Dhruba Jyoti Sarkar as Maharaj’s elder brother.
