Kolkata — Dakshini Prayash, an organization founded under a tree 32 years ago, celebrated its 32nd Foundation Day at the Satyajit Ray Auditorium, ICCR. Known for its commitment to providing free education and healthcare to the economically weakest, Dakshini Prayash has grown into a beacon of hope and progress in the community.
Transformative Education and Healthcare
Today, Dakshini Prayash stands tall as a thriving institution offering holistic, quality education to nearly 400 children. With 37 dedicated teachers and 15 non-teaching staff, the organization ensures academic excellence while also running a unique healthcare program. Moreover, Dakshini Prayash supports self-employment opportunities for the families of its students. These families produce quality products sold globally, with surplus income reinvested into the education and healthcare of their children and communities.
Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
This year’s Foundation Day celebrations highlighted the organization’s dedication to environmental sustainability. The event featured a vibrant dance drama performed by the students, focusing on the theme “East Kolkata Wetlands: Ecology and Economy.” Through workshops, students have learned about the vital role these wetlands play in maintaining the ecological balance of Kolkata and the world. The dance drama poignantly captured the essence and importance of the wetlands.

Mrs. Anubhuti Prakash, President of Dakshini Prayash, addressed the audience, reflecting on the organization’s growth and its positive impact on the community.
