Kolkata, 11th August 2024 – In a powerful gathering of animal lovers and advocates, Chhaya Animal Hospital hosted an enlightening session titled “Embrace Compassion – Giving a Voice to the Voiceless” at Kenilworth Hotel, Kolkata. Organized by the People for the Respect n Care of Animals (PRCA) trust, the event showcased the hospital’s relentless dedication to caring for injured, abandoned, and abused animals across West Bengal.
A Beacon of Hope for Animals
Chhaya Animal Hospital, established in 2008, stands as a beacon of hope with its 40,000 sq. ft. facility, featuring 66 kennels, a state-of-the-art operation theatre, and solar-powered amenities. The hospital has successfully treated and rehabilitated over 100,000 animals, adhering to a no-kill policy that reflects its deep commitment to animal welfare.
Insights from the Founder
Ms. Sharda Radhakrishnan, Founder Trustee of Chhaya, shared the hospital’s inspiring journey. “Our goal has always been to offer a safe haven for street animals in need and to provide them with the care they deserve,” she emphasized. Chhaya’s work extends to treating animals with severe conditions, including cancer and amputation, showcasing the organization’s comprehensive approach to animal care.
Community Support and Recognition
The event also highlighted the crucial support from the community. Mr. Utsav Parekh and Mr. R. Chamaria were recognized for their significant contributions to the hospital’s growth and success. Mr. Dilip Doshi, a former cricketer and long-time supporter, praised the collective efforts that have made Chhaya a model for animal welfare.
Future Initiatives and Call to Action
The session included presentations on Chhaya’s ongoing projects, such as their Gaushala for injured cows and horses, and the CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) program, which neuters around 200 dogs monthly. The event concluded with a call to action, encouraging continued support for Chhaya’s mission to provide compassionate care and advocacy for animals.
