Domino’s Pizza Crosses the 2,000-Store Mark in India

A Milestone Achievement

Kolkata, June 13, 2024: Domino’s, India’s largest quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain, has reached a remarkable milestone with the opening of its 2000th store in the country. To celebrate, the brand inaugurated seven new stores across its operating regions nationwide. Since opening its first store in New Delhi in 1996, Domino’s now serves over 200 million pizzas annually through its 2000 stores spread across 421 cities.

Rapid Expansion

The journey from the first 500 stores, which took over 16 years, to the last 500 stores in just 29 months, highlights Domino’s accelerated expansion strategy in India. The brand often pioneers entry into new cities, such as Sasaram, Sultanpur, Madikeri, Girdih, and Baramati. Domino’s continues to expand creatively across multi-tier cities with high-street stores, mall stores, highway outlets, college campuses, and airport terminals, catering to a diverse range of customer occasions. Post-Covid, the company has opened a new store every two days, consistently delivering great taste and value through both dine-in and under-30-minute delivery options. Globally, Domino’s operates over 20,000 stores.

Localized Offerings and Customer Commitment

Domino’s has not only localized its pizza offerings with innovations like the Paratha Pizza but has also customized toppings to suit the palate of millions of young Indians. The company remains committed to its 30-minute delivery promise. In March 2024, Domino’s announced free delivery on all orders above ₹150, underscoring its dedication to providing value through its extensive Pan-India supply chain and proprietary last-mile infrastructure.

Leadership Insights

Mr. Sameer Khetarpal, CEO & MD of Jubilant FoodWorks Limited, expressed the brand’s dedication to growth and customer satisfaction. “We are humbled to achieve the milestone of 2000 stores in India, making us the first QSR to cross this mark. We expect to add 180 stores of Domino’s in the current financial year.”

Art D’Elia, Executive Vice President-International at Domino’s Pizza, Inc., congratulated the Domino’s India team. “India is the largest market outside of the U.S. in the global Domino’s network. The growth story of Domino’s India is a benchmark for us. This achievement is a testament to the strategic choices made over three decades to deliver the best pizza experience to our valued customers.”

Guinness World Record Recognition

In addition to this milestone, Domino’s India has been awarded a prestigious Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Pizza Box Number,’ a first for any QSR brand in India. This award adds to the celebratory spirit of the 2000-store achievement, marking another significant accomplishment for Domino’s in India.
