Kolkata, 16 April 2024: Josh Talks, a pioneering platform in regional content and upskilling, has unveiled the launch of City Champions 2024. This initiative, which debuted in 2023, is dedicated to recognizing and supporting organizations committed to sustainable urban development.
The Urban Imperative
With urbanization on the rise, India faces the challenge of accommodating 600 million people in its cities by 2036, as projected by a report from the World Bank in 2022. This rapid urban growth demands enhanced infrastructure and services, from clean water to efficient transportation, to ensure the well-being of citizens.
Addressing Urban Challenges
City Champions 2024 aims to identify and empower organizations across eight critical areas, including Public Safety, Climate Action, and Sustainable Infrastructure. With support from Omidyar Network India, this program seeks to equip selected organizations with the tools and resources needed for impactful change.
Building Capacity for Impact
Selected organizations will undergo a rigorous 12-week capacity-building program, led by IIM Calcutta Innovation Park. This partnership emphasizes the importance of nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship to address societal challenges effectively.
