The Institute of Oriental Studies and Research organized an international conference at Paikpara’s Mohit Manch on Sunday. The event saw the participation of prominent astrologers and scholars from various countries, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar, as well as distinguished attendees from Calcutta and other parts of India.

Among the notable attendees were East Bengal Club General Secretary Rupak Saha, Bagbazar Ramakrishna Math’s Maharaj Dharmarupananda Ji, and eminent astrologer Pannalal Mukherjee. The conference focused on various aspects of astrology, Sanskrit education, and the comparative study of ancient texts.
Maharaj Dharmarupananda Ji’s Message
In his address, Maharaj Dharmarupananda Ji delivered a crucial message, urging the community to avoid deception in the name of astrology. He stated, “Many people believe in astrology. In that opportunity, many people cheat people and make a profit. Stay away from this kind of conspiracy. Care should be taken so that no one gets a business opportunity in the name of an astrologer. It is everyone’s responsibility.”
Expansion Plans Announced
Shri Shyamal Bhattacharya, Chairperson of the Institute, highlighted the organization’s expansion plans. “We have branches in different countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar, apart from Assam and Bengaluru, and we are going to open more branches very soon,” he said.

The Institute of Oriental Studies and Research was originally established for the development, preservation, and advancement of Sanskrit education, emphasizing the comparative study of the Vedas, Vedanta, Puranas, Ayurveda, Sahitya, Astrology, Pali, Buddhism, Yoga, and other Oriental subjects. The Institute is committed to skill development in line with contemporary needs.
