This film is going to be a sequel to the film Stree which was directed by Amar Kaushik and was based on the urban legend of “Nale Ba” The movie is about a small town of Chanderi, where the menfolk lived in fear of an evil spirit named Stree, who abducted men at night leaving their clothes behind during the four-day annual festival. Vicky a young and handsome Village tailor disbelieves these stories and meets an unnamed woman who is in the village every year during the festival. Vicky and the woman start getting close to each other, but his friends Jaana and Bittu get suspicious and believe that the woman could be Stree. The film with its talented cast, which included actors like Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor and Apartshakti Khurana, along with its catchy songs like “Melegi Melegi” and “Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe” became a blockbuster hit.
‘Stree 2,’ is also directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Film, it is a part of the producer’s horror comedy universe which also includes films like Roohi and Bhediya. In an interview with The Times of India, actor Abhishek Banerjee opened up about the second instalment of the movie and said, “Stree 2 is going to be bigger and double the fun. All the actors are deeply immersed in their characters. I had a lot of fun with Apar (Aparshakti Khurana) and Shraddha Kapoor. It was a reunion of sorts. I was telling my co actors that, for me, it was more of a sense of nostalgia as we landed in the bylanes of Chanderi. It was my first film as an actor in a prominent role, and first times are always special.”
It will be interesting to see if this sequel will be able to follow the footsteps of the original film and manage to get audience appreciation and give competition to Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa 2 which will also be released during the same period and coincidentally is also a sequel of a successful franchise. Let’s hope and expect that all the hype and excitement for this Shraddha Kapoor film be worth it.
