After the huge success of Gadar 2 in 2023, Sunny Deol will now star in Border2. The original film, directed by JP Dutta, released 27 years ago in the year1997, featured an ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, and Puneet Issar, alongside a supporting cast including Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee.
The film showcased the Battle of Longewala, albeit in a fictional way. It featured music by Anu Malik and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The film became a watershed moment in India’s repertoire of war films it was one of the biggest hits of its time.
On Thursday, 13 June 2024 Sunny Deol announced Border 2 with an Instagram post. The video, which contains only text and no visuals, begins with a voice-over by Sunny Deol, saying, “27 saal pehle, ek fauji ne waada kiya tha ki wo vapas aayega. Usi waade ko poora karne, Hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai fir se (27 years ago, a soldier made a promise to return. To keep the promise, and to salute the soil of India, the soldier is The video ends with Sonu Nigam singing the song, ‘Sandese Aate Hai’.He shared in the caption, “Ek fauji apne 27 saal purane waade ko pura karne, aa raha hai phirse. India’s biggest war film, Border2.” The film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta and will be directed by Anurag Singh, who previously directed Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari.
It was rumoured that Ayushmann Khurrana could be a part of Border 2 but his name is not a part of the initial announcement Based on this announcement the film will feature a revamped version of”Sandese Aate Hain.” The song is a part of the Instagram post, which also tagged lyric writer Javed Akhtar and original music composer Anu Malik, along with singer Sonu Nigam. Javed won the National Film Award for his work on the song’s lyrics.
The original song also had the vocals of Roop Kumar Rathod but back in the day, Rathod was not nominated for as many awards for the song, and Nigam had expressed his grief about the same.
