The celebration began with an intimate registered marriage, followed by a wedding party for friends and colleagues from the film industry. As per reports some 1000 guests were expected to arrive at the lavish ceremony which was held at Bastian in Mumbai. Sonakshi's parents actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha and mother Poonam looked beautiful in the traditional attire. Joining the couple's family were their friends from the fraternity including Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Kajol, Huma Qureshi, Saqib Saleem, Chunky Panday, Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur, Sonakshi’s Heeramnadi co-star Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Arbaaz Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Raveena Tandon. According to sources The white interiors of the restaurant were complimented with beautiful red flowers. "Guess that was the whole idea as the party invite read - Dress Code: Formal Festive, just don't wear red. The colour was exclusively meant for the bride who looked radiant in the red saree," As the two stepped out to pose for the shutterbugs, they won the hearts of the paparazzi as they sat with them for a group picture.Meanwhile, Zaheer complimented her in a white chikankari kurta while they signed the papers for their registered wedding. For the reception in the evening, Sonakshi stuck to her roots and opted for a bright red benarasi saree, gajra, and red bangles. Not to mention, fans also loved that she opted for 'alta' instead of mehendi for this occasion and this wasn't just another lavish B-town wedding with the bride in pastels.
