Celebrating Neuro-Diversity on the occasion of Autistic Pride Day

Inspiring Autistic Achievers Unveil Their Extraordinary Journey
Kolkata, 17 June 2023 : On the occasion of Autistic Pride Day, Autism BeAware an Initiative by
Nirmaan BD Bangur Endowment, recently organized an event on 17th June at ITC Royal
Bengal Kolkata.

Nirmaan- B D Bangur Endowment, is a Kolkata-based non-profit organization, with a multi-
faceted approach encompassing health, sanitation, education, rural and urban development,
and raising autism awareness through the Autism BeAware campaign since 2017.
The talk-show was moderated by celebrated journalist, Mrs. Mugdha Kalra (the moderator of the
event) as she engages in conversation with four remarkable autistic achievers from different
fields. Pranav Bakhshi (Model), Amrit Khurana (Artist), Akshay Bhatnagar (Employee,
Rajasthan Secretariat), and Varun R Sawant (Chef & Marathoner) who shared their unique
journeys.

This special event was attended by autism institutes, leading academic institutions in Kolkata,
social activists, general schools, families, caregivers, and medical professionals. The aim is to
spread awareness, promote acceptance, and work towards the inclusion of people on the
autism spectrum in mainstream society.

Commencing on the event, Manju Bangur said “Our event aims to raise autism awareness and
promote inclusivity. Let’s educate and accept individuals on the spectrum, creating a society
where their talents are valued. We urge the government to support our cause through signage
and preferential transport services for people with invisible disabilities.”
