Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, makes a major AI and search engine announcement.

The new AI features, according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, will improve the search engine’s capacity to respond to requests.

The IT behemoth Google intends to upgrade its search engine with features based on artificial intelligence (AI). This occurs when it competes fiercely with Open AI’s chatbot ChatGPT.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that the new AI features will improve the search engine’s capacity to respond to questions in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. He denied that Google’s search business is in danger from chatbots. At its parent company Alphabet, the search industry generates more than half of the company’s income. With $162 billion in revenue generated last year, search ads are the business’s top revenue generator.

Google is a pioneer in creating large language models (LLM), but it has not yet created technology to affect search patterns. People will be able to interact with these big language models, according to Pichai. This technology has been implemented by ChatGPT’s rival Microsoft in their Bing search engine.

Given that Pichai is under pressure from investors to decrease costs, this is one of the gravest risks to Google today. Google made its largest-ever employment cuts in January, eliminating 12,000 positions. The CEO claimed that despite its best efforts, Google had not yet become 20% more productive.

A recent story claims that Google is currently developing new AI features in Gmail. On the other hand, some of Microsoft’s other commercial software solutions include AI. The Mountain View-based IT giant is being cautious with its technological investments because academics are worried about the accuracy of chatbots that use AI. Pichai stated that in order to continue working on AI while controlling expenses, it must modify how resources are used.

The WSJ story claims that Google wants to attract more clients. The Pathways Language Model, one of its largest AI systems, was made available to developers on its cloud computing service last month.
