The ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of several dignitaries, including Mr. Arun Lal, a former Indian cricketer, Mr. Chinmay Nayak, CEO of the Cricket Association of Bengal, and Mr. Arun Saraf, Chief Patron of the West Bengal Cricket Association for Differently-Abled, among others. Their presence underscored the significance of this event in the realm of Indian cricket.
Disability cricket, a variant of the sport played by individuals with various impairments, holds a special place in the hearts of cricket enthusiasts. Despite facing marginalization, differently-abled cricketers display remarkable skill and passion. The Physical Disability Triangular T20 Trophy 2024 will feature teams from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and host state West Bengal, competing from the 15th to the 17th of March, 2024, at Aditya Academy in Barasat.
Addressing the media, Mr. Ravi Chauhan, General Secretary of DCCI, expressed the tournament’s significance in celebrating the talent and determination of physically disabled cricketers. He emphasized the goal of creating awareness and breaking barriers, highlighting the capabilities of differently-abled individuals.
Mr. Arun Saraf, appointed Chief Patron of the West Bengal Cricket Association for Differently-Abled, pledged to ensure equal opportunities for all cricketers in the state, regardless of ability. His commitment reflects the ethos of inclusivity driving the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India.
