Tall Tales Hosts Celebration for Pariah’s OTT Debut
Following its grand reception in theaters this past February, “Pariah”—the critically acclaimed action-packed sensation of 2024—is set to premiere on hoichoi on July 12th. This announcement was celebrated with a warm meet-and-greet event hosted by Tall Tales, Camac Street’s premier desi speakeasy bar & kitchen, offering a picturesque view of Victoria Memorial.
A Stellar Cast and Crew
Directed and written by Tathagata Mukherjee, “Pariah” stars an impressive ensemble cast including Vikram Chatterjee, Soumya Mukherjee, Sreelekha Mitra, Angana Roy, and Ambarish Bhattacharya. The film compellingly addresses the grave injustices faced by stray animals, particularly dogs, as the protagonist battles against inhumane treatment and uncovers a massive dog trafficking ring.
A Powerful Narrative
The event highlighted the film’s impactful narrative and its profound themes. Director Tathagata Mukherjee, reflecting on his inspiration, shared, “Witnessing the mistreatment of animals over the years deeply affected me. Determined to advocate for their rights, I envisioned using the powerful medium of film to raise awareness about these injustices. ‘Pariah’ is a passion project aimed at positively influencing audiences and driving change.”
Critical Acclaim and Audience Reception
“Pariah” has garnered an overwhelmingly positive response for its masterful portrayal of the harsh realities faced by stray dogs and the relentless efforts of a protector combating these atrocities. The film’s gripping, open-ended conclusion leaves audiences contemplating the outcome long after the credits roll.
Cast Reflections
Vikram Chatterjee, the film’s lead, remarked, “Pariah involved immense hard work, not just physical training but mentally as well. The response has been incredibly valuable. With hoichoi and SVF’s support, we’re excited to bring this film to a broader audience and look forward to their reactions.”
Soumya Mukherjee, known for his roles in softer characters, ventured out of his comfort zone to portray the film’s villain. Mukherjee reflected, “As an actor, stepping into new roles is always an adventure. For this character, I attended workshops and observed real-life butchers. Switching between the role and reality was challenging, but the audience’s love made it all worthwhile. What stood out for me is that the character is not an out-and-out villain. The character questions the hypocrisy of the society around us.”
A Global Release
Set for a grand worldwide release, “Pariah” will premiere on hoichoi on July 12th, marking a significant occasion for cinephiles everywhere.
