Kolkata, 29 February 2024 – Uber, India’s leading ride-hailing app, has announced a partnership with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata, West Bengal. With Kolkata Airport experiencing a remarkable 61% surge in air traffic over the previous fiscal year, there is a growing demand for seamless connectivity. This collaboration aims to provide passengers arriving in the vibrant city of joy with reliable and hassle-free transportation options, while also empowering Uber drivers to deliver exceptional service. Back in April 2023, Uber signed an MoU with AAI, extending its services to multiple AAI Airports, with operations already active across 10+ AAI Airports.
Uber has introduced cashless operations at NSCBI Airport in partnership with Omega Enterprises. This initiative eliminates parking and pickup charges for Uber drivers, streamlining the overall experience and resulting in reduced estimated arrival times (ETAs) for riders, ensuring smooth airport transfers.
Shiva Shailendran, Director of Supply Operations at Uber India and South Asia, commented, “We are focused on reshaping the travel experience, and this partnership with the Airports Authority of India will help us deliver an elevated experience for drivers and riders alike. We remain committed to delivering a magical experience every time you choose to Uber in and out of your city.”
As part of this collaboration, Uber has established dedicated pickup zones at the arrival terminal for both domestic and international flights, supplemented by on-ground assistance and wayfinding signages – guiding riders from inside the terminal all the way to the Uber pickup zones. Passengers can anticipate a seamless journey from touchdown to destination, while drivers can enjoy a hassle-free experience, making Uber the preferred choice for transportation to and from the airport.
