JDBI Graduating Fashion Show Celebrates Sustainable Fashion
Kolkata witnessed a dazzling spectacle on 26th April 2024 as J D Birla Institute, in collaboration with Indo British Scholars Association (IBSA) & British Council, unveiled the vibrant tapestry of sustainable fashion at Kaleidoscope 2024. This event marked the culmination of creativity, sustainability, and cultural revival as students from the Batch 2021-2024 showcased their innovative designs.

Under the theme ‘ecofash’, six distinct collections emerged, each narrating a story of eco-consciousness and style. From beachwear crafted from waste materials to reinterpreted traditional attire, every ensemble reflected a commitment to sustainability.
1. Sunset Mosaic: A Patchwork Adventure
The collection transformed abandoned textiles into vibrant beachwear, employing patchwork techniques to create eye-catching pieces perfect for seaside escapades.
2. Retrofitted Renaissance: Tradition with a Twist
Old shirts found new life in this collection, where repurposed fabrics were fashioned into high fashion garments, blending modern aesthetics with traditional styles.
3. Royal Threads: Reimagining Tradition
Old saris were reinvented into contemporary attire, paying homage to Rajputana elegance with modern cuts and designs, while vintage Banarasi silk brocades added a touch of regal splendor.
4. Biodiversity: Nature’s Influence
Inspired by nature’s diversity, this collection featured garments made from sustainable fibres like bamboo and eucalyptus, showcasing the seamless integration of style and eco-friendliness.
5. Bottled Swagger: Eco-Chic Jackets
Recycled PET fabric took center stage in this collection, presenting stylish jackets that epitomize social and environmental responsibility, proving that sustainability and elegance go hand in hand.
