Diljit Dosanjh made history when he took the stage at Coachella, becoming the first Punjabi singer to perform at the Indio, California-based music festival.
Diljit took the stage on Sunday wearing a black kurta-tamba, a matching turban, and yellow statement gloves and performed some of his biggest hits. The festival’s official Twitter account posted a video of the actor-singer with the caption, “@diljitdosanjh got Sahara shining.”
Diljit also shared a bunch of his favourite photos from the big night and simply captioned it as ‘Coachella’.
Imtiaz Ali, a director who attended the music festival with his daughter Ida Ali, posted a clip of the celebrity performing on social media. “saadda vir te saaddi kudi #coachella..ich @diljitdosanjh you make us proud #firstindianatcoachella,” he wrote, singing his praise. I’m happy you could attend, @idaali11.
Many of Diljit’s Bollywood friends and co-stars took to their Instagram accounts to share videos of the star and celebrate his accomplishment, in addition to his fans who posted images and videos of the singer having a blast on stage. On Sunday, Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, co-stars of Diljit’s film “Udta Punjab,” posted a clip of the actor performing at Coachella on their Instagram accounts. Bebo used numerous heart and star emojis when writing “The OG.”
Alia shared the same clip and wrote, “EPIC!!!!” that the singer shared and replied ‘Ik Kudi’.
‘Ki & Ka’ actor Arjun Kapoor also referred to Diljit as G.O.A.T on his Instagram story, while Rakul Preet Singh expressed her happiness for Diljit taking Punjabi culture to new heights. Rakul shared the performance reel of Dosanjh and wrote “Wohoo Punjabi Fever at Coachella. What a firecracker performer you are. Dil Jit Lita Sab Da”
Coachella is an annual music festival in Indio, Coachella Valley, California to exhibit top-class performers from all over the globe. Diljit’s performance marks his dominance not only in the Punjabi industry but on a global level.
