In an age of multilingualism, we are still stuck with this predominant notion that only English Language is a worthy medium of instruction- a one stop MEDIUM to become street-smart, fluent & be acceptable in a High class society.

 

Students passing out from an English Medium school gets a puffed-up machismo to be confident and privileged over Bengali medium students, many of whom struggle, stutter and stumble upon in public speaking situations or get fearful while appearing in job interviews or may be hinder to open up their hearts to the other half.

How do we then BREAK this barrier? How do we prove that Knowledge is Everything? That Language is only a medium to enrich oneself and what matters to being TRULY WORTHY is nothing but Knowledge?

Here comes Star Jalsha’s New Fiction Show- BANGLA MEDIUM

– In an age of hyper globalization, a show to let us believe that dreams can be fulfilled in any language

Bangla Medium is all about Indira, our main protagonist & her journey to fulfill her dreams & aspirations to become a teacher in an English Medium School, challenging age-old societal norms.

 

She hails from a remote village of Katwa and has done her education from Bongo Binodini Balika Bidyalay but over everything else, she has proved her worth to be an excellent Science teacher in her village. Known for her creative, out of the box ways of teaching her students, she dreams of taking her knowledge to a much larger pool of students and eventually gets a job offer from one of the top English medium schools in Kolkata- Future Dreams School.

While attending her interview session, Indira gets to meet Bikram, who runs the school with assistance from Suhana, Bikram’s Sister. It is here, where she gets the shock of her life and faces humiliation for her Bengali Medium Background. How will she face this challenge? How will she prove her Worth?

Join Indira’s journey as she challenges to inspire a million hearts across Bengal.

Indira will be played by famous actress Tiyasha Roy. Bikram is played by Nil Bhattacharya. Suhana will be played by Sampurna Lahiri.

his show is produced by Susanta Das, who has given Bengal some inspiring shows like Ke Apon Ke Por, Titli and Alta Phoring on Star Jalsha.

Bangla Medium will start from 12 December Mon-Sun at 8:00 pm only on Star Jalsha SD and HD.
